Current Topics for the Pediatric Sedation Nurse
The Nursing and Allied Health Committee is Working for You
By Lorie Reilly, MSN, CRNP, CPNP
Chair, Nursing and Allied Health Committee
The Nursing and Allied Health Committee may be small in numbers but we are strong in spirit and are working hard this year.
Special thanks to Brenda Thompson, RN (see picture) from Atlanta who represented our Society at the Association for Radiologic and Imaging Nursing (ARIN) conference in DC in March. This was just one step in the collaboration of the two organizations. We are looking towards some common education goals and other membership options. Stay tuned for further updates.
Another special thanks goes to Laura Mitchell, CCLS from Delaware, who is a strong voice for the committee as she reaches out to our child life colleagues to become active in SPS. She is getting the word out there on their listserve and is also recruiting writers for a child life column for our SPS newsletter.
We are beginning the first phase of applying for nursing contact hours, starting with a few of the existing CME programs that are available on the website. The plan is then to create some nursing specific programs with credits. Please email any suggestions for topics or presenters.
I look forward to meeting you in Disney! If you cannot attend the conference, then please call into our Nursing and Allied Health Committee meeting on Sunday, May 21 from 8-9 pm. The call in number is 800-791-2345, passcode 46099#. Check out the mobile meeting guide (http://spsmmg.societyhq.com/) for more details as well as the many lectures and breakout sessions that are available for our nurses.
See you next month.
