The Future of the SPS Annual Conference
By Mary Landrigan-Ossar, MD
Conference Planning Subcommittee Chair
Change, like spring, is in the air. As our society grows, our conference planning process is evolving. Historically an institution with an existing infrastructure to grant CME has volunteered to host and plan the conference. During the past year we have happily achieved the ability to grant CME as a society.
Moving forward, under the direction of the Education Committee, the Conference Planning Committee will focus more on conference programming. This committee will be responsible for developing the annual conference program, soliciting content ideas from membership, creating a speakers bureau and assisting with future conference site selection. We’ll be seeking input on plenary speakers, workshop topics, breakout sessions and areas of interest.
What does this mean for you? It means more opportunities to get involved with your society! Join us at the Education Committee meeting in Orlando: Help plan upcoming conference venues, brainstorm ideas and speakers and pitch ideas for a talk or a workshop. Bring your ideas, we’ll bring the coffee.
